NurseryThe Tangentyere Nursery has been running since 1984. It currently provides employment for 2 staff and several CDEP workers. Tangentyere Nursery grows native plants for the Alice Springs town camps and for community Bushland Management programs. The nursery also runs a free plant program so that any Aboriginal person living on a town camp is entitled to a number of free native plants a month.The nursery is open to the general public from 8.30am until 4.00pm Monday to Friday and sells native plants and a range of fruit and citrus trees at very competitive prices. Bushland ManagementWith continued support from NHT, Tangentyere Landcare has run a bush management program for a number of years. Currently one person is employed full time.The project works as a devolved grant scheme and is aimed at remote communities, allowing them to apply for small grants to be used on community landcare projects. Examples include, re-vegetation, tree planting for dust suppression and shade, and the establishment of small veggie gardens. For further information, staff can be contacted on: (08) 8953 3120 |
