MIDDLE POINT SCHOOL... Welcome to our School!
Middle Point School is situated in a picturesque, historically and culturally significant area of the flood plains of the Northern Territory. It is located about 70km form Darwin, off the Arnhem Highway between Fogg Dam and the Adelaide River. Initially opened in 1964 in a house within the Middle Point Village, the current school building was built and opened in 1968. The school consists of two classrooms, a library, office, art room and store shed. Most students travel by bus to the school from either, Humpty Doo and Lambells Lagoon areas or from the Corroboree Park and Marrakai areas. Middle Point Village has changed in use from C.S.I.R.O and D.P.I.F. personnel to mainly Conservation Commission personnel. The Education Department currently leases one house in the village for a teacher at his school. The current enrolment is 43 and it has been near this number for the past three years. There are nine Indigenous students; five are from Humpty Doo Station. The current Teaching Principal is Dorothy Bell and the School Council Chairperson is Greg Dunstan. Middle Point School is a Devolved school which means that its school council has financial control over its Operational Grants. The School is a member of TEGS, Top End Group Schools.
