About the Research Farm
Research is carried out on cattle and crops such as peanuts, maize, sesame, sorghum and mung beans. In the past there has been research carried out on crops like cotton and potatoes.Oolloo Road is the main road into the Douglas Daly Region.In the district we have lots of cattle stations and some of these are Kumbyechants, Ceres Downs, Ruby Downs, Stray Creek, Middle Creek and Bonalbo.

The Douglas Daly Tourist Park

Tourism also plays an important role in the community. The Douglas Daly Tourist Park is 20 minutes drive from the Research Farm. It has a swimming pool and Douglas River swimming holes are close by.  Douglas Hot Springs are also nearby.  These are thermal springs which are really hot. The Tourist Park is also the local service station, restaurant, shop and post office!

There are a number of community-based organisations that exist in the Douglas Daly district. 

Douglas Daly Community Development Assosication

The Douglas Daly Community Development Association is an existing community based organisation that aims to improve community facilities within the district and through its fundraising is focusing on the development of the future town site of Fleming.

Douglas Daly School Association

The Douglas Daly School Association represents the parent body of the Douglas Daly School community.  It is made up of parents and interested members and the Teaching Principal who acts as the Department of Education and Training representative.  The School Association is currently responsible for the maintenance of the school grounds and this activity forms the basis of their fundraising activities for the school.  All parents and interested parties are welcome to join the School Association and meetings are generally held twice each term.

Junction Journal

The commuity also has a ‘Junction Journal' newsletter published monthly, which keeps the residents of the district informed of local events, activities and issues related to agriculture and work safety.  The Junction Journal also involves the students of the school through a competition and the ‘Student of the Month’ initiative as well as the continuing promotion of school based achievements and activities.

The Playgroup Association caters for the needs of the younger children and their parents.
