Sports and the Arts

A balanced program of sporting and cultural activities TIIis offered to students.

swimming programSport is an important part of leisure activities within the Katherine region and students have the opportunity to join these local sporting groups. The school has netball, football and rugby teams that participate in inter-school and local competitions.

Many students have represented the region and the NT in their chosen sporting field. The school has both an athletics and swimming carnival.

Students in the early childhood years participate in the Motor Sensory and Brain Gym Programme.

The school offers music and dance classes to all students in Years T-10. These subjects are electives in Years 8 - 10. The College offers an instrumental music program to students in Years 5-10.

Athletics Carnival - Tug-of-War

Private music tuition is available with highly qualified and experienced tutors who visit the school. Music students can participate in the College Band, Choir and various ensembles. Students perform regularly around Katherine at various events and participate in the Darwin Eisteddfod.

Classical BalletPrivate dance tuition is also available. Students can participate in classical and contemporary ballet classes. Classes are available after school hours.

Participation in all performing arts activities is strongly encouraged. This gives students the opportunity to experience a wide range of learning activities and develop a greater empathy for alternative views and interests.

A major drama or musical production is performed annually. The early childhood (T-3) students perform one year and students in Years 4 - 10 the next. Students are encouraged to become involved in this performance and contribute their skills. These productions are of a consistently high standard and provide a valuable experience for all who are involved.
