School Sport NT is calling for applications for Team Officials for School Sport NT Interstate teams for 2009.

All team participation is subject to the availability of funding. Should there be changes to the listed program below, notification will be given immediately.

All applications must be on the application form available here. These Application Forms will not be published in the School Sport NT ‘Update’ nor circulated to schools.

Applications close Friday 31st October 2008. Late applications cannot be accepted. This proforma gives the selection panel important details and makes the task of applying for positions as simple as possible. The form also gives Principals/Workplace Supervisors more information.

Specific Information:

• As a DET agency there is a requirement that all School Sport NT Interstate teams must have at least one teacher appointed as a Team Official. All successful non DET applicants will be required to produce evidence of a current police check.
• In selecting applicants priority is given to Northern Territory teachers (Government, Catholic or Independent) however, non-teachers are regularly appointed.
• Proposed calendar dates, venues, team participation numbers and positions open for application are attached. Dates shown are actual Interstate arrival and departure dates.

Applicants should read the following when applying:

o The selection panel will be contacting at least one of the listed referees from all applicants short listed for a position.
o An outline of the selection panel and the criteria used is included on the Application Form.
o Interstate Exchanges/Championships/Tournaments are usually 5 school days plus 2 preparation school days.
o School Sport NT expects the Interstate Team Officials to be involved in the NT Exchanges (3 days) and/or Championships (3 days). Interstate coaches although unable to coach Cluster teams, will be required to attend the NT event as a selector. Interstate Managers are expected to attend the event in some capacity i.e. Coach, manager or convene as they are also part of the selection panel. Appointed sports trainers are expected to attend the NT event as the event sports trainer.
o If appropriate and required, a relief teacher allocation is available.
o Successful applicants are required to attend a 2 day Professional Development Session (this may be live-in). This is scheduled to be early in Term 1, 2009.
o The format, dates, details, options, venue and theme of this PD Session will be advised in writing to the successful applicants, and their principals/workplace supervisors.
o An application confirms your cooperation and availability to attend this PD Session. Relief Teacher allocation is available.
o Successful applicants and their schools/workplaces will be notified before the end of the school year.
o Agreements will be sent to successful Team Officials to confirm their acceptance and outline their roles and responsibilities.
