HOST CLUSTER:
Desert Storm DATES: 7th - 9th May WHERE: Traeger Park Oval CONVENOR: Tim Lawrence PEC: Rosanne Fuller Pre Event Meeting: Friday 2nd May via teleconference.
Alice Springs will come
alive with about 240 students participating in the Australian Football
Championships in May. Tim Lawrence from AFL NT will be hosting the
event so we will no doubt see some exciting AFL action with him
at the helm. Cluster trials have already commenced and will continue
into week 10 of term 1. Participation here has been outstanding
and some great talent has been unleashed. So grab your boots, your
footy and let AFL rule in May 2008.
Day 1
at the AFL Championships in Alice Springs came and went with all teams
in great spirit and playing with integrity and sportsmanship.
Northern Suburbs Stars won’t need to do their washing tonight
as they had a great hose down when the sprinklers on the hill magically
turned on – cooled them down a treat.
Top points to the Arnhem team who never stopped smiling for the
whole day – whilst winning is tough, attitude is memorable.
The Opening Ceremony
was well presented with Mitch impressing all the players with his
framed School Sport Australia Guernsey and Photo – well done
Mitch. His speech was inspiring to all and listened to attentively.
Day 2
at the AFL Champs continued to display the great behaviour of the
players.
The members of our umpiring academy continued to grow in professionalism
and standards.
The games were fast paced and there was a great race for finals placings.
The highlight of the day was to see Arnhem still smiling, kicking
more goals and getting better overall.

improvement in the teamwork, game tactics displayed by the teams
after playing 8 games together. Lots of really good football was
