Professional Learning
Successful professional learning is that
which is
- embedded
in daily practice
- arising
out of direct needs
- tailored
to meet the specific circumstances or
contexts of participants
- sustained
over a period of time
Targetting your professional
learning
To get the most out of professional learning,
ask yourself these questions:
- what
am I trying to achieve?
- what
do I need to learn or improve?
- what
resources or strengths do I already
have in this area?
- what
other resources and ideas can I access?
- what
is the most effective way I can use
my time to develop the skills and knowledge
I need?
Think
about:
- who
might be able to offer support at your
school (eg senior teacher, curriculum
leader, ICT team)
- starting
an interest group at your school
- observing
a colleague at work
- finding
a buddy to collaborate on a project
- joining
a professional association
- finding
a mentor
- attending
Teachers and Technology sessions
If
you have a specific need or problem or
would like to suggest a possible workshop
idea, please let us know. If there are
enough requests of a similar nature an
activity could be organised.
