"Last year I listened to a group of Year 4/5 students from Ross Park present at the NT Student Science Awards in Darwin.  They stood up in front of an auditorium of secondary students and spoke about their individual CREST projects.  I remember 2 students in particular.  One boy had a sibling and was concerned when his parents bathed the baby and transferred it to the towel.  So he'd modified an apron by putting velcro on the apron and towel; it looked like an ordinary apron while he was chatting to us until he demonstrated taking a doll out of a baby bath and drying it.  It was like watching the Young Inventors!  A girl talked about her project where she determined the most cost effective washing powder.  She had subjected various washing powders to the same stains and confidently told us which was the most cost effective.  The students spoke confidently to the older audience and a write up about their projects was also on display.  It was an amazing experience!  Scientists in Schools partnerships can support teachers with CREST."  Jenny Eddy, Project Officer CSIRO 2010
