Welcome from Jenny Nash Principal
Palmerston High school is proud to be the centre of secondary schooling for Palmerston City residents. Our school works through the Palmerston City Schools alliance to provide a streamlined education for students from Pre School to Year 12.
Palmerston High School is located 25kms east of the Darwin city centre. The campus is situated on attractive grounds with tropical gardens and expansive lawn areas.
Individual student learning needs and career pathways are catered for through the coordinated and comprehensive approach at Palmerston High.
Partnerships with the Beacon Foundation, Clontarf Football Academy and the Australian Technical College also support our collaborative approach providing rich, engaging and relevant learning opportunities for our diverse student population.
Palmerston High comprises three discrete schools:
- Middle School (Year 7 to 9)
- Senior School (Year 10 – 12)
- Special Education Centre (Year 7 -12)
High standards of student behaviour and the increasing development of life skills and citizenship are expected, nurtured and rewarded across all schools.
The health and well being of every student is valued by all staff. Students are connected to a home room group and one regular teacher to ensure student social and emotional needs are monitored and addressed.
Enrolments at Palmerston High are expected to reach around 1 000 in 2008 with the commencement of the Middle School and the inclusion of Year 7 students. To accommodate the increasing size of the school new infrastructure and building renovations will continue though the first half of 2008.
Senior students will move to their fabulous new facility in July with its state-of-the-art, specialised science laboratories, commercial kitchen, multi media room and equipment, career education facility, open air courtyard, student lounge and study pod areas.
Technical studies workshops are also undergoing an extensive refit though our partnership with the Australian Technical College which will this year increase provision of a range of traineeship and apprenticeship pathways for our students.
Completion of the Senior School complex will allow the Middle School to come together and spread out in their newly renovated, enlarged and well equipped classrooms in semester two this year.
2008 is set to be an exciting time at Palmerston High. Your inquiries are welcome.
