One day Spike and I were walking through the bush down near the Duncan Road when a big mob of cattle came running past. A boy was riding behind the cattle and he yelled "Hi Spike and Eddie, I'm Cameron. Do you want to hop on the back of my horse and finish the muster?" I said "Righto" Come on Spike. It will be fun. Hurry up, Cameron doesn't have all day." So we jumped up onto the back of the horse and held on as tight as we could.
Cameron galloped to catch up with the cattle. I asked Cameron what the name of the station was and he said it was Rosewood and the paddock they were mustering was called Behn Paddock. After a while Spike started to complain that his spikes were getting sore. Cameron said "My bum's getting sore too. Eddie you climb up on top of my hat and Spike you sit on the front of my saddle." From on top of Cameron's hat I could see for miles. When we finally got to the yards it was time to have lunch. Cameron introduced Spike and I to all of the ringers who were at the yards.
Cameron said that his dad was going back to the station and if we wanted to go for a swim and see a surprise we could go with him. We all I piled into the front of the Toyota and set off. When we arrived at Rosewood homestead Cameron introduced us to his brother Shaun and his sister Kayla. Cameron told them we were all going for a swim so they said they would come too. We all piled back into the Toyota and this time Cameron drove. Spike was scared so he sat on the seat with his eyes closed. On the way Cameron showed us the China Wall which looked really special. I asked him if this was the surprise but he said it wasn't. When we got close to the swimming hole, Cameron told Spike and I to close our eyes. We did and Shaun and Kayla helped us out of the Toyota. We were standing on the bank of the swimming hole and Cameron told us to open our eyes. What we saw was a really awesome floating raft! We all piled onto the raft and rowed around the swimming hole and had a great time. It was getting late so we got back into the Toyota. Lucky for us, because it -started to rain! Back at the station we had a shower and warmed up before tea. We had really tender steak and went to bed with very full stomachs. Spike and I had great fun with Cameron at Rosewood Station. It was interesting and exciting. We hope to go back and visit Cameron again someday.
