Spike and Eddie By Whitney

One Monday morning, while Spike and myself were getting out of bed, the phone rang. It was a lady, and her name was Janelle Underwood she invited Spike and I to come to her station, I immediately said yes.

Two days later we arrived at Kununurra Airport. Reg Underwood, Janelle's husband picked us up and flew us in his little 4 seater Cessna 172 back to Bunda. It was a wonderful flight and sight when we landed at Bunda. Whitney, Reg and Janelle's daughter came and picked us up in their Daihatsu. We hopped in the front and Whitney told us a bit about herself. We met Janelle and had something to eat and drink.

Later on Whitney showed us around the homestead. We took Whitney's horse up the dam and went for a swim, the horse loved it. Spike and I sat on his back while Whitney led him back to his paddock with a bucket of feed. Reg told Whitney to feed the other horses and stud cows. We patted Nugget, the stud bull, he was huge.

The next day, Whitney took us to her classroom and we watched her speak on-air. We couldn't hear very well but Whitney could. Spike helped her with her Maths, and I helped her with her English.

That afternoon Whitney took us out on the motor bike to light fires. Whitney told us all about how to burn out a paddock, it was very interesting. It was fun, but all of a sudden the wind changed and the fire started racing in the other direction. We speed around the other side on the motor bike and started back burning. Whitney soon got the fire under control. She told us it always happens, so that settled our nerves. We watched the fire for a while, then went home.

The next day we thanked Whitney, Reg and Janelle very much. Reg flew us to Kununurra Airport over Lake Argyle, and then we caught the next plane home.
