WELCOME TO BRADSHAW SCHOOL

The students of 3 Stewart wait for the arrival of Eddie and Spike

Bradshaw Primary School is one of nine primary schools in Alice Springs. There are about 450 students at Bradshaw (T-6). Alice Springs is the second largest centre in the NT with around 25000 people. Alice Springs is about 1500 kilometres from Darwin and 1650 kilometres from Adelaide in South Australia.

Eddie- Hey Spike! This must be Bradshaw there is a class waiting for us on the foot path. Spike stand next to the kids and smile. Spike will you stand still!

Eddie takes a photo of Spike and the class in the front of the school

Spike:I wonder if they have crocodiles at the park like the one at the Northern Territory Wild Life Park?

Eddie: You don’t have to worry about the crocodiles but I would keep an eye out for the Wedge Tail eagles eagles if I were you.

The Alice Springs Desert Park is a great place to see the natural plants, animals and birds of the desert around Alice Springs. They even have a Nocturnal House with bats and bilbies and reptiles.

The ranger told the children what to watch out for as they walked on the trail to the Nocturnal house.

Eddie: What’s the name of this flower? It sure looks strange.

Sturt’s Desert Pea grows around the park.

Eddie: Come on Spike you can stop hiding from the birds of prey, its time to get back on the bus. It’s lunch time back at school and I am starving. Eddie, you did put our lunch orders in at the canteen before we got on the bus, didn’t you?

Tom and Simone help Eddie and Spike put in their late lunch orders.

After eating everybody plays on the equipment before going to change for swimming.

All the children in years T-3 get to go swimming for 2 weeks at Bradshaw. On the last day, after everyone has finished their lessons the children get to have a fun lesson.

Miss Stewart took a photo of everyone in the class. Can you see Eddie?

Spike: Gee Eddie! that was fun. I wonder what we are going to do when we get back to school?
Eddie: Anna said they had to finish their dot paintings when they got back to school.

Spike: What’s a dot painting?

The children use wooden kabab sticks to do their dot paintings.

Eddie: It’s a type of Aboriginal painting that the children are learning about during Arrentre lessons. Arrentre is the name of the local group of Aboriginals.

Eddie gets to do a dot painting with Anna and Troy.
