Malak
Preschool operates three different sessions.
Two morning sessions from 7:55am to
11:00am, Monday to Thursday and one
afternoon session from 12noon to 2:30pm
Monday to Friday. Parents are given
the option of a morning or afternoon
session depending on vacancies. Each
of the three groups are made up of children
who are just 3 1/2 and those that are
almost 5 years old.
Our daily program consists of a time at
the beginning of each session where
the children do jigsaw puzzles with
relaxing music in the background. Parents
are welcome to take part during this
time. We then have mat time where we
cover housekeeping matters such as rolls
etc then read stories, discuss what
has happened in the story, participate
in science or maths related activities.
These activities are designed around
the main topic of study for the week.
Brain
Gym activities are then undertaken.
These are a series of movements to music,
which are designed to coordinate the
left and right hand sides of the brain
to work harmoniously together.
Table activities such as painting, play
dough, collage, box construction, cooking,
hammering, pre-writing/colouring,
constructing hand or finger puppets,
head bands etc take place. These activities
are designed to develop fine motor skills
such as cutting with scissors, pencil
grip, stapling, punching holes, eye/hand
coordination and other related skills.
Other
indoor activities offered are the home
corner- dolls, beds, kitchen furniture
and utensils, block and Lego type construction
materials which are available for play
on an ongoing basis.
We have an extensive range of books, which
can both be read at Preschool or a selection
which children can borrow to read at
home.
Music
and dance are also an integral part
of our daily program, with action songs
always being a hit with the children.
Role playing stories is another popular
activity.
Each
day we enjoy outdoor play on an extensive
range of playground equipment, sand
pit, waterway, swings, bikes, train
sets, balancing equipment, ball throwing
and catching to name but a few of the
activities that children can enjoy.
Once a week (during Terms 1 and 3) we
fill up the swimming pool which is always
popular.
One day per week we undertake the SToMP
(Sensing to Move Program) which is designed
to develop strength, balance, coordination
and body awareness as part of gross
motor development.
Overall
we offer a balanced program for all
children and allow them to develop through
play and at their own pace.
Please visit us at the preschool and
look around if you are looking for a
preschool program for your child.
