Homework
Ludmilla School
provides non-compulsory homework for students using The
Homework Grid. This is based on the work of Dr Ian Lillico
as described in his book, Homework and the Homework Grid.
The idea behind the Homework grid is to broaden the
definition of homework to include active involvement in
family and community life, as well as encouraging
participation in physical activity to combat childhood
obesity.
Activities in the
grid are a mixture of sedentary and non sedentary,
individual or family pursuits. Any school-related activities
have already been taught in class and the homework grid
activities are designed for students to practise and
consolidate their skills and knowledge.
If
you would like to read more about this approach to homework,
you can order and read the book by Dr Ian Lillico:

Library
Ludmilla School has a well
equipped library and computer lab. The library has a
teaching space with an interactive whiteboard, as well as a
great selection of books both fiction and non fiction.
Teachers and their classes
enjoy library and computer sessions weekly or twice weekly,
for reading sessions, borrowing books, or doing research
(also on-line). In order to take a borrowed book home,
students must have their teacher’s permission and a cloth
bag to protect their book.
The library is open at
lunchtimes to students offering an alternative air
conditioned space for students to read or play quiet games.
Student librarians from Years
3 to 6 work daily to return books to shelves, help junior
classes to borrow books, and generally keep the library
looking great. |
