students develop their reading and writing
skills, initially with the text and later with a
much wider range of topics and materials.

students at Ludmilla School are involved in this
program which runs for the equivalent of 1 hour
each day
After
discussing the text the teacher models
fluent reading.
Children are continually exposed
to how the teacher tracks ahead, adds
expression and self-corrects errors.
The teacher is able to explain in
depth a variety of strategies to decode
unfamiliar or difficult words
