Larrakeyah Primary School

Larrakeyah Primary School is situated near the heart of Darwin and has a population of approximately 350 students. It is one of the older schools in Darwin, having first opened its doors in 1963. It was relocated to the old Darwin Hospital during rebuilding and reopened in 1985.

School enrolment reflects the development taking place in the city area and Cullen Bay. The school is adjacent to the Larrakeyah Barracks and 30% of our families are with the Defence Forces. Many nationalities are represented. There are two Aboriginal Hostels in the area, which are mainly used for short-term accommodation for families from outlying communities.

Ancillary and service facilities at the school include a dental clinic and a school canteen and outside School Hours Care.

The school community is proud of its fine record of achievement over the years in sports, in local and national competitions and in the North Australian Eisteddfod. We aim to provide an educational program with opportunities for each child to reach their full potential. Opportunities are provided to extend all children.

We want you as parents to be partners in the education of your children. Teachers always appreciate parents helping in the classroom and there are many opportunities during the year to become involved.
