OUR PROGRAMS


Special Features/Programs

• The school has IESIP funding for an indigenous languages program, co-ordinated by the linguist from Diwurruwurru-Jaru Aboriginal Corporation.

• The school receives 125 hours funding from DETYA per week for five tutors to do tutoring.

• Of the 125 students enrolled only one uses English as their first language Ð they are children of a teacher.

• LATIS is being implemented for primary band secondary students.

• The school currently has 17 Indigenous staff including Assistant Teachers, tutors, Inclusion Support Assistance, CDEP (from the local Council) and cleaners Ð most part time and all untrained.

• The school has five fully trained teachers for five class rooms. Soon to be 7 teacher school. A forward works proposal has been developed to the current Capital works list. A new facility relocated in line with community plans, is a priority for the following reasons:
– Flooding Ð for the last five years, the school has flooded to a height of three metres. Flooded 4 times in 5 years.
– New buildings to accommodate the following Preschool, 23 preschool aged children in the community Primary, including four primary complex classrooms Library Secondary facility
