Jabiru Area School caters for students from Pre School to Year 12. The school has a strong focus on 'working co-operatively with the School Community to provide a safe, caring and supportive learning environment. We respect and value the diversity of our community and place a strong emphasis on teaching and learning and wellbeing (student, staff and community).'
Our school encourages and values 'trust, partnerships and effective communication' across the whole school community. We focus on improving student achievement and outcomes and meeting individual needs by implementing relevant, interesting class and support programs using particular facilities and resources.
These include:
- First Steps and Stepping Out
- Junior Park Ranger program for all Year 6 students
- Early Childhood Literacy, Count Me In Too numeracy program
- Special Education program
- Specialist Art and Physical Education lessons
Further development of the playground and facilities for effective play and learning continues to be a priority for School Council. Their achievements include new playground equipment, various types of seating and shaded areas.
An active School Council with various Sub-Committee is in operation. Where possible community and parent support in partnership with the school is utilised to assist students, classes and school programs.
