Why join ITEANT

Joining ITEANT will give you the opportunity to help shape the future of information technology education in the Northern Territory

ITEANT is a professional association for educators with a commitment to the furthering of education in the field of information technology. This Association was inaugurated in February of 2000 has become a force in the area of information technology education throughout the Territory.

Who can join

Membership is invited from educators, and others with an interest in education, with a commitment to ongoing personal development and to the improvement in information technology education in the NT.

Primary and Secondary teachers from both Government and Non-Government schools, as well as the tertiary educators are invited to join

You do not have to be a confident computer user or a specialist IT teacher to become a member. IT seems probable that, in the near future, all teachers will be expected to be teachers of IT and membership of ITEANT will provide an opportunity for you to become a part of a community of educators dedicated to improving personal competence and the pedagogy of IT use in the classroom.

Benefits

ITEANT is committed to the provision of professional development in information technology for all teachers in the NT.

Among the benefits of your membership will be: your direct notification of all ITEANT events, including professional development; possible assistance to attend programs; and an elimination or reduction of any charges associated with professional development programs.

Your membership in ITEANT entitles you to affiliate membership of the Australian Council for Computers in Education. (ACCE)

This membership includes two issues per year of the Australian Educational Computing Journal. This journal provides up-to-date information on issues such as IT competencies, as well as articles from teachers, and book and software reviews.

Additionally ITEANT’s affiliation with ACCE means that the views of Northern Territory educators can now be presented at the national level.
ITEANT has been invited to collaborate with the Education Department’s Curriculum Frameworks Team in determining the role of information technology in NT schools.

As a member of ITEANT you will be in the position to have input which could influence the decision making in this area.
