OUR PHILOSOPHY Holy Spirit Primary School, founded in 1979 is set in spacious grounds in Darwin's northern suburbs. The school exists to provide quality Catholic education in a safe, caring and friendly environment. We see ourselves as part of the parish and work closely with Parish Priest and church community. With a present enrolment of approximately 440, the school strives to enable students to grow personally, academically and spiritually in keeping with our motto "To live, to love, to grow in Christ."The school operates on a two-stream basis with straight grade levels except for year 4 on, where students are streamed ability wise for maths. Teachers are expected to plan cooperatively and encouraged to share expertise across classes. Students participate in specialist lessons in Indonesian and Library on a weekly basis. Students with special needs are supported by a specialist teacher either within the class or on a withdrawal basis according to need. There is ongoing additional support focus on Numeracy and Literacy within the school. This year we have also been a focus school for the RE validation program as well as Information and Communication Technology. An active School Board as well as a Parents' and Friends Association support Holy Spirit School. There is also an ASSPA Commitee and Homework Centre. A school run 'After School Care Programme' caters for an average 70 students daily, before school care caters for about 15 students. Both parent and community involvement are actively encouraged.
