COMPULSORY SCHOOL UNIFORM
All students in NT Government Schools from Transition to Year 9 are required to wear an authorised school uniform.
Students must wear the Driver Primary School shirt, either royal blue shorts/pants, royal blue skorts, royal blue skirt or Driver Primary dress.
HATS
Students are required to wear a Driver Primary School sunsafe hat that protects their face, neck and ears. Baseball caps are not considered sun protective and therefore are not acceptable. NO HAT, NO OUTSIDE PLAY! Students who do not have a Driver Primary School sunsafe hat will not be able to participate in outdoor activities.

Driver Primary School Council has endorsed the sale of student backpacks. these packs contain stationary items that students will need for their year level.
The school supplements book packs with additional stationary, art/craft materials and other curriculum related materials. Book pack cost $95 and are available from the front office.
The school is divided into four houses.

Families are kept in the same house throughout their stay at school. House points can be earned through extra effort in class work, sports, behaviour and contribution to the school as a whole.
Our school operates on inclusive principles and respects cultural diversity as a strength within our school. We have an active Indigenous Education Working Team in which members are integrally involved in developing our Indigenous Education Strategic Plan as a sub plan of our Strategic Plan.
Our Aboriginal Officer supports student attendance, health, wellbeing and academic achievement. Our council allocates additional resources to our literacy and numeracy programs thereby supporting students from all cultural backgrounds within our school.
STUDENT LEADERSHIP COUNCIL (SLC) 2011
Individual students have the opportunity to display and improve their leadership skills by becoming members of the SLC. Students from years 4 - 6 elect two representatives from their year level to be on the SLC. Voting is carries out in accordance with usual territory and Federal procedures to introduce the students to this concept of Government.
Activities carried out by the SLC include ideas for strategic planning, fund raising for charity, surveying the student body for advice on amenity provision and school rules as well as taking an active part in School assemblies and looking after visitors to the school. A badge of office identifies all SLC members to the school community.
STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL MEMBERS 2011
A DSTA is like a teacher's aide but they are employed to assist families as they relocate to a new school. They may:
- Assist the school in understanding the needs of ADF parents and their children
- Inform the school and support families if ADF members are deployed
- Help families with special needs
- Assist families collect work portfolios and academic records for the new school
- Act as a point of contact for ADF families in the new school

Driver Primary's canteen is open everyday with healthy options to order for recess and lunch.
Orders must be written on a brown paper bag and put into their class boxes or dropped off at the canteen.
Students can also purchase healthy options at recess and lunchtime straight from the canteen.
The OSHC is operated by the YMCA. They offer Outside School Hours Care and Vacation Care Programs for children aged between 5 and 12 years.
This program is designed for parents who require care for their children between the hours of 2:30pm and 6:00pm during the school term and 7:30am and 5:30pm during school vacations.
They aim to provide quality care that is varied, interesting and challenging, that promotes physical, mental and social development using a variety of resources and materials. They believe that children should be respected and cared for, and that they have the right to be safe and happy in a caring environment.

FOOTWEAR
Appropriate footwear is mandatory for all students.
Sneakers or sports shoes are required for any Physical Education class. For safety reasons thongs and masseur type shoes are not acceptable footwear.
Students not in full uniform are required to play in a designated safe area to ensure their safety. Parents will be contacted if students are repeatedly out of uniform.
Class, individual, whole school and family photographs are taken once a year, usually in third term. As per school policy, students are expected to be in full uniform for these photos.
