A Coordinator is appointed to oversee the School's International Program. She
is responsible for arranging groups of students and teachers to study and work
overseas for extended periods of time (usually a term) and providing an opportunity
for students and teachers from overseas countries to study and work at Darwin
High School for extended periods of time.
Special Intensive English Coordinator
A Senior Teacher is responsible for overseeing the learning of students new
to Australia, whose English skills need further development. Teachers provide
English as a Second Language (ESL) support to students undertaking mainstream
courses and lunchtime tutoring.

A feature of the Darwin High School curriculum is that it incorporates a number
of exchange programs, to provide in-country experience for our language students
Currently, the School offers the following annual in-country language studies
programs.
Mandarin Chinese
A ten week exchange to Shanghai is available for selected students and takes place
in Term 2. Students attend classes at Shanghai Senior School and are billeted
by local families A darwin High School teacher will accompany them
Japanese
A fourteen day study tour to Fujishiro High School, in Ibaraki, Japan takes place
in Term 3. Students are billeted in the homes of Japanese students and attend
Fujishiro Senior High School. A Japanese language teacher and one other teacher
will accompany the group.
