Location & Climate

Darwin is located approximately 12 degrees south of the equator. Darwin Harbour is twice the size of Sydney harbour and home to a large variety of tropical fish, dolphins, turtles, sea snakes and crocodiles. The isolated reefs, mangroves, wetlands and patches of rainforest are alive with wildlife. The close proximity of Kakadu and Litchfield Parks provide a broad range of outdoor activities. The Dry Season is especially suited to bushwalking and camping due to the predictably fine weather and warm nights. Darwin High School is situated on 17 spacious hectares at Bullocky Point, overlooking Darwin Harbour.

Darwin is a land of a dry summer and a wet summer.
May to October is our Dry Season with balmy weather, sunshine fresh breezes and a comfortable level of humidity. This is ideal for all sorts of outdoor activities with the reliability of fine weather.
November to April is the Wet Season which develops into the heavy rain and active thunderstorms of the monsoon. Almost all of the average annual rainfall occurs during this period. The season brings spectacular lightning displays and is often the preferred season of the local population.
