Course Outline:
The course has a hardware focus and students will learn to repair and maintain computer equipment. The skills covered include connecting internal hardware components, connecting hardware peripherals, applying problem solving techniques to routine malfunctions, maintaining inventories for equipment, software and documentation, and caring for computer hardware.
The eight core units contain those basic ICT skills and knowledge required for effective entry into all Information Technology qualifications from Certificate III upwards.
The course includes approximately 2 weeks of Structured Work Placement (SWP). Assessment of some competencies will occur on Workplacement
Assessment:
Assessment is competency based and may include observation, practical exercises, tests, discussions and simulated information technology based tasks.
Course Length: Full Year - one day per week (Wednesdays)
Prerequisite: Selection will be based on interview
