Students interested in Stage 1 or Stage 2 Languages have a range of options available to them. These include CSC, NTOEC and the NT School of Languages.

Casuarina Senior College
The College will be offering Stage 1 Indonesian and Stage 2 Indonesian Beginners as part of its normal program. It will also offer a Year 10 Indonesian course which will lead into Stage 1 and Stage 2 Indonesian Continuers. Besides Indonesian, in 2008 Stage 1 Japanese Continuers will be offered for the first time leading into Stage 2 Japanese in 2009.
There will also be the opportunity to choose from three options Japanese, Spanish and Greek at the Stage 1 Beginners level. Courses will be run in conjunction with the NT School of Languages using a double lesson during the normal day and a two hour after hours session one day a week. Availability will depend on numbers and staff availability.

NT School of Languages will offer face-to-face courses in eight different languages in 2008. The languages offered are: Chinese, French, German, Greek, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese and Spanish. Courses are offered at Beginners and Continuers Levels, and in some cases at Specialist (background speaker) Level also. Classes are held at either Casuarina Senior College or Nightcliff High School, normally 3:30-5:30pm two afternoons per week.

NT Open Education Centre will offer distance education courses in Indonesian Beginners for Stage 1 and Indonesian Continuers for Stage 1 and 2, as well as German Continuers for Stage 1 students.

Note: All courses are dependent on sufficient enrolments.

Each language course focuses on communicating in the target language, on understanding the structure and function of both the target language and English, and on developing social and cross-cultural appreciation, understanding, and knowledge. These courses can be used for credit towards the Northern Territory Certificate of Education (NTCE) and can contribute towards Tertiary Entrance Rank (TER).

Casuarina Senior College Adult Night Classes offer the following language courses, timetabled for one night each week. These subjects cannot be used for credit towards the NTCE.

Students wishing to gain skills in these languages, at varying levels, can enrol in a Night Class. All modules have an oral emphasis with some time spent on reading and writing and cultural aspects.
