MY MEMORIES OF SCHOOL                               JUNE 2004

 

Name                 Betty Berry

Dates:                I started at about 8or 9 years old and finished when I was about 18years old.

Subjects             We learned music, English, maths and aboriginal studies.

                          I liked all my schooling.

                          I didn’t like sport because too much running.

Teachers           Margaret Gieke was a good teacher. I remember Ludo Keipers. He was our teacher who took us to Bali and he was like a mad scientist.

Culture              We were taught culture at school.

Discipline          It was very hard. I remember we had to line up for our classes.

Language          We used English in school. After school we used our own language.

Friends              I had lots of friends.

                          We did things together like we went swimming and played.

                          We talked about anything really.

Clothes              We wore ordinary clothes after school. Our uniform was red and white at school.

Sports and games         We wore red and white clothes for sports. There was basketball, high jump and football but I never liked sport.

Excursions and Entertainment We went to Toowoomba to show our cultural dancing, and then to Brisbane.

                          We went to Bali with Ludo Keipers for a holiday. We saw lots of things. We went into a volcano.

                          We also went to Areyonga for a choir competition.
