BUILDING THE EDUCATION REVOLUTION (BER)
Bakewell Primary received Commonwealth funding under the BER program.
For the National School Pride Program the school received $200,000
and for the Primary Schools for the 21st Century the amount was
$3 Million.
National School Pride Program
The projects completed under this program covered safety fences
at the front of the school and in the Preschool, new carpets in
the library and admin block, internal refurbishment of the staffroom,
a covered walk way to connect the Preschool to the Transition Block,
painting of all student toilet blocks, shade structure over play
equipment and two Interactive Whiteboards.
Primary Schools for the 21st Century
This program gave the school the opportunity to build two much
needed resources - a new classroom block and a larger assembly area
to comfortably accommodate the whole school. The new classroom block
has state of the art technology and houses four classroms with Interactive
Whiteboards and laptop wall cages and a Computer Lab for whole class
Information Technology lessons. The lab boasts an Interactive Whiteboard
and 28 computers for access by all students and classes in the school
and provides increased IT learning opportunities for our students.
The assembly area concept includes a fanstastic all weather roof
(with lighting for evening use) over the two basketball courts and
an outdoor stage facility with high quality audio and vision equipment.
This stage area will enhance the school's teaching spaces for the
Arts programs eg Music, Drama and Music Instrumental programs and
provides the school community with an excellent resource for whole
school and community functions.
