Ampilatwatja Community.

Ampilatwatja Community is situated 325km North East of Alice Springs, off the Sandover Highway. The population of approximately 300, are predominately Alyawarr speakers.

Traditional culture is very strong and the community is governed by the traditional owners both through their cultural influence and as the Local Government Council.
The strength of the traditional owners is reflected in the fact that substance abuse is virtually non existent and the community is very cohesive. Relationships extend north to Tennant Creek, south to Harts Range and across to Mt Isa in Queensland.

The school is situated on the northern boundary of the community, opposite the store. The other services, the Council office and the clinic are located on the southern boundary.

The Hub School.

Physically the school consists of 4 classrooms. The double classroom block is the teacher resource room and the library. The other 2 classrooms house the junior class, 5-8year olds and the Senior class 8+ year olds. There is an administration block with office, tuckshop and staff kitchen. There is also an ablution block and storage shed. All the school is air-conditioned, with the 2 classrooms having refrigerated airconditioning.

The student body is mainly indigenous with some non indigenous enrollments. Students in the community, enrolled in school of the air, access the school's facilities and programs in the afternoon.
