Strong Beginnings 2 Jabirus
The Jabirus are an energetic bunch of students! They are focussed on learning and they apply themselves enthusiactislly in all learning contexts. This means they are an excellent role model for all other students.
Writing is a daily focus with emphasis on the structures and features of the following genres: - narrative, recount and procedure. Students understand that not only what they write but how their writing looks is important. Spelling and reading have also continued as a major focus. Students have completed a number of free choice writing activities where students need to ensure their creative piece includes all of the following WHO, WHAT, WHEN and WHERE. Some students were able to apply all of these concepts.
In Maths this semester we have focussed on number sense, calculating, time and money. Learning strategies include rich tasks, hands on activities and the use of the patterns found on manchester, such as tablecloths and teatowels, to learn how to multiply, count to 100, tell the time, add and subtract. Maths is often integrated with other topics which allows for maths language to develop and the confidence to complete open-ended tasks.
This semester we are learning to play recorder and have already had a successful concert at Assembly. We are very active students and the Rounders competition is a favourite!!
