Principal's Message
Alawa School Community is made up of great students, families and staff. We are all committed to achieve a safe, happy learning environment. We know that every student is unique, each having different needs and interests. We therefore provide a variety of opportunities and experiences to motivate and challenge our students.
Our focus is Literacy, Numeracy and the Essential Leanings but we also value Studies of Society and Environment, The Arts, Health and Physical Education. We teach Science practically through our school farm. Learning Technology is taught continuously in the students’ own classroom as they use the wireless laptops and interactive whiteboard as a learning tool.
Further Alawa recognizes that different children learn at different rates, consequently our classroom learning programs are outcomes-based and developmental to suit each child’s abilities.
To ensure our school is safe, our Code of Behaviour is based on our values and beliefs. We recognize the rights of all the members of our community, we believe in building positive relationships as well as modeling and developing social skills. However, Alawa is explicit about unacceptable behaviour.
Alawa successfully strives to achieve our vision and to work towards continuous improvement. We accomplish this because we have great staff; they are very committed to our school.
Our families also fully support our school and we have developed wonderful partnerships. Some parents are able to assist in classrooms; others support the farm after hours or become members of our School Council. This helps to develop our school’s positive atmosphere.
Alawa welcomes new members to our community.
